We visited both the East and West Parks on a recent visit to Tucson. Whilst both were spectacular with their Majestic Saguaros (I wish we had them in the UK!!) we found that the drive around the East encountered a more sparsely populated Saguaro Forrest whilst the West was more densely populated. I actually drove through here on my way to the Desert Museum, on winding roads that reminded me a bit of driving through Yosemite or Big Sur. It was a really nice drive, and I took advantage of the pull-offs to take lots of beautiful pictures of the cacti and the rocky hills beyond. It's definitely worth the drive out... more

It's a dirt road that starts out one-way till it intersects with Golden Gate Road (also unpaved and washboardy).
