Located in downtown Kassel, the Eckstein is the place to got for every age group, budget and size of hunger. The food is awesome. The pizza bread is the best I have eaten. This hotel was a pleasant surprise. Even though we checked in after the hotel front desk was closed for the night, the staff was very helpful. We had a minor problem with our reservantion, but they went out of the way to accomodate us. The rooms and the rest of the hotel were spotless. Breakfast was well above average. more

Sadly many German hotel rooms are as charismatic as 1980s basic IKEA furniture set with decor to match. Not so in this little gem. Good place to see football matches and to eat good home made burgers. Price are in the average, the beer around 2€ and the burger menu about 7€. I remember one especially cute waitress last year but I don't even know if she's still there ;) more

It was an experiment to stay at a budget motel. The reason was due to lack of accomodation in Kassel for 3 adults so I booked two rooms on the internet website. This is a conveniently located hotel within walking distance of the park and castle and two good restaraunts. Good breakfast buffet. No real frills but a nice bed in a small room with decent bathroom. Unpretentious, simple, quiet and clean. Friendly staff. We stayed here twice, on our way from and to Switzerland to and from Lübeck and the ferry to Finland. This is a typical Ibis hotel, but cleaner, with nicer bathroom and more comfortable bed than usual. It's close to the highway, yet in a very quiet location.
