Toruno

Mar 30, 2008

El Rocio is an amazing town, as other reviewers already have stated: that huge pilgrimage church, the sand in its streets and the birds that you hear everywhere! Hotel Toruno is a fine option to stay in El Rocio. Clean, good location, local atmosphere. Bear in mind though that it's a two star-property, so no fancy Wifi, satellite TV or... more

We stayed in this little, delightful hotel for three nights and enjoyed it very much. The rooms are small, but there are excellent beds and looking from the small balcony we were right in the middle of this small village. Lucy and Angel were so helpful to give us best advice for trips, walks and restaurants (at that time they... more

we stayed at this hotel 28.12.07 to 04.01.08, it was a great place to stay and have no problem recomending it! the rooms are modern and very comfortable, bathroom great- powerfull showers and tones of hot water!, i really liked the private balcony, the room next door cant really see into your balcony because the design of this place would... more

Hotel Toruno is a 2* hotel on the edge of the Rocio lake. El Rocio as a town oozes character and has the feel of a spaghetti western. The lake itself is fantastic for nature lovers and interesting species of bird can be seen from the room. The hotel wears its local character openly as the reception and sitting area... more

Well... first of all sorry for being a bit late with my written impression about this hotel. As I was there more or less 4 months ago… I would simply say that it's one of the best places I have ever stayed in Spain considering "quality-price". The area is probably a bit poor of attractions if you don't mean to... more

We have just returned from a walking holiday, staying at La Posada. Angel and Lucy couldn't have been more helpful, advising us on our walks etc. The evening meals taken were very good and excellent value. What a good idea to have tea/coffee facilities, although not in the room but just outside ours. The rooms were small but more than... more

A "Posada" in Spanish is apparently a humble country inn. It might be humble but you will struggle to find a warmer welcome anywhere. Lucy and Angel make you feel at home straight away and are more than anxious to give you as much help as possible so that you can enjoy this beautiful area. Yes rooms are a bit... more

We wanted to see the nature and wildlife in the Donana National Park (Parque Nacional de Donana). Unfortunately, we made last minute reservations, while in Cadiz, which approached the park from the south out of Sanlucar de Barrameda. The operator was Real Fernando, who stopped at (2) sites. During the 1st stop, we saw birds off in the distance on... more

We booked the El Rompido for a short golf break. The condition of the golf courses was fantastic. The South was more interesting than the North Course. Lots of holes have dog legs and its certainly not as pretty as a lot of the other courses we have paid in the algarve but for the money it was very good.... more

Staying at the Posada for three nights was the perfect way to start our 2 week holiday in Andalucia. The guest rooms, common areas, and dining room are clean, comfortable and full of character. We received a warm welcome from our hosts Lucy & Angel, as if they had known us for years, and we really appreciated their tips on... more

We stayed in this hotel for 1 week and just loved it. We do not play golf but went to see properties in the area. The place is very clean, the pool is excellent and the pool side food is quite nice. The village (2KM away) is very pretty and quite spanish. El Rompido on the whole is extremely peaceful... more

Good hotel but the staff lied about the leaving hours, making us have trouble with our plans and the swimming is only open between 12h-20h, which means that you can only use it the day you arrive and mostly during high sun level hours. The nights are very noisy - not good if you want a good rest! more

We arrived at La Posada in Alajar for a week-long hiking holiday never having been to Andalucia, much less to the Sierra de Aracena Park, before and knowing precious little Spanish (but clutching an excellent phrasebook!). Lucy and Angel, the couple that run La Posada, could not have been better hosts. Walkers, runners, and world-travellers themselves, they were warmly welcoming,... more

We spent three enjoyable nights at La Posada this summer, whilst touring western Andalucia. This small rural hotel has a great location in the centre of Alajar with parking in the village square. All rooms are decorated to a very high standard and contain many items from the area; we thought the cork notice board was fantastic. Lucy and Angel... more

We have just returned from a week stay at the 5* El Rompido Golf Hotel. Being a keen golfer, we booked the holiday for the two courses that were on offer. We were not disappointed. Both the north and south courses were in fantastic condition for the time of year and the hotel were carrying out wholesale improvement works to... more

La Posada in Alajar was one of the first stops on our 6 week honeymoon trip to Europe from Australia, and remains one of our favourites. We were greeted with genuinely friendly warmth by Lucy and Angel, the proprietors of this fantastic find. Walking through the front doors is almost like walking into the home of a family friend. We had a weeks stay and it was marvellous; great walks, lovely countryside, friendly welcome and lovely couple running La Posada. One of us is a vegetarian and they did a great job catering for both of us or advising us where else to try for an evening. Most other guests seemed to be passing through organised by walking companies... more

Jusy back from a really enjoyable few days spent in El Rompido. It is an excellent hotel with friendly efficient staff. It was recommended to us by Spanish friends who live locally in the town of Cartaya. We hadn't a car as we were meeting our friends every day but it really is essential.
