DC Coast Restaurant

Jul 25, 2008

My husband and I went there for my birthday last night. It's a little pricey - and given this economy, we don't do a lot of pricey meals, so it was a special occasion. I really thought the food was sub-par. The mussels appetizer was good, but my husband's $11 clam chowder (!!!) was fairly tasteless. I had a softshell... more

I managed to get a rate of $150/night for this hotel, and it was worth every penny. The staff was terrific. This hotel is huge. Once was situated here, I had no problem finding my way around. It's also right next to the Metro, which was great. The room was well decorated, there were lots of outlets for laptops, chargers,... more

I was in Washington for four nights; two at this hotel, two at the Marriott Wardman Park. They were two very different experiences. If you want a hotel that has the basic necessities and is right on top of all of the Mall attractions, this place is just fine. The rooms are clean, the staff is courteous, and the sites... more

Sofitel Lafayette Square

Jul 25, 2008

After checking out at the Sofitel New York, we were eager to see if their collegues in DC were able to provide us with the same level of service! Yvette at the front desk checked us in and gave a promise that they would be even better. Our room was facing the offices of the next building but we didnt... more

Selected this hotel from past reviews on Tripadvisor website, and was not diappointed. I only planned a short stay in DC (2 nights), so location was my priority. In saying that, I could have not been more pleased with this hotel. It was within walking distance (about 3 mins walk) from the White House, and main shopping areas. There were... more

Cost $70 to go 4 of us. Almost 1 hour to get an elevator (to pay to get lines I go to Disney) They talk about an interactive show on the briefing room, after that you do nothing with it. Nothing really that you would say "look this". At a point there is a small bug (microphone) that says this... more

Bloomingdale Inn

Wow, where to begin. I'm really not that hard to please and certainly don't require the most lavish accommodations when I travel, but this is the first time ever that I've felt compelled to write a review for such lousy service, lousy customer service, and just an overall unpleasant experience. Ok, it started with my room. Like I said, I'm... more

I was referred by City by Foot to the Georgetown Ghost Tour given by Mobiletours. The name of the company is due to their free cell phone tour of DC monuments. I was very pleased with the recommendation, so I took their Lincoln tour the following night. Very well scripted tours. The ghost tour guide was very creepy and that... more

If you want to go here for the views, I would suggest you just go for drinks only. The food is expensive and sub-par. As a person who grew up in Maryland and is now a Washingtonian I know my crab cakes. The semi-fried, mystery meat mush that was served up as a crab cake here was inedible. There was... more

This hotel is outstanding. I went with my mother, my grandmother, and my aunt. Unfortunately, we only booked this hotel for two nights and I wished we could have stayed longer. Upon arriving at the Mandarin, we were greeted with kindness and consideration from the hotel staff. We arrived before check-in, so our room was not ready. Instead of making... more

Stay at this hotel only if you are going to be gone all day. Front desk does not communicate with housekeeping. We extended our stay and they never told housekeeping. They kept knocking on the door and coming into the room unannounced! Elevators do not work well. Many times we would push the button for our floor and the elevator... more

Bloomingdale Inn

It has been nearly 2 years since we stayed at the Bloomingdale - we have been on a world tour and it was one of our first stops! The hotel itself is lovely - does feel a bit like someones house - in a good way! Rooms are nice, shared bathroom is big and clean. Breakfast is fine, there are... more

Family of four on Washington DC vacation. The good: Location - two blocks from the Capitol, Library of Congress, mall, Union Station/Metro lines. Employees - very nice, friendly, helpful. Plenty of friendly greetings from everyone - room service, security, front desk. Pool - nice roof top pool, though a spa sure would have been nice after a long day of... more

We went at an off time - about 4 in the afternoon on a Friday. The restaurant was pretty empty so we got seated immediately. We went the boring route and got the steak, frites and salad. It's apparently one of their more popular menu items. The steak was thin and really good. It was cooked just the way we... more

We attempted to see this first time in mid afternoon where the line was circling well around the corner of the building. We decided to take and early dinner and return with much better success. This time it was only to a sign that said 45 min beyond this point. Maybe because it was close to closing, but the line... more

Very impressive monument in DC. Located closeby to the Washignton Mounment at the start of the Reflecting Pool. The columns featuring all the states present during the time of WWII. Take note of the wall with all the stars (each representing 1000 soldiers that died during the war). more

We contemplated going to this at first due to the expense, but were so glad we did. In fact we even returned later that day for a second go around. Divided into 6 floors carefully laid out.
