Seronera Wildlife Lodge

Visiting the fabled Serringetti admitedly brings a certain level of expectation... Our Safari outfitter (Multichoice Safaris of Arusha) had booked entirely with Hotels & Lodges Limited, who owns this property. We arrived for our 2 night stay after a long dusty ride to find no running water in the rooms... We were told that the problem would be corrected soon...... more

The hotel huts reminded me of an Ewok village, they were warm, cosy, clean and very well appointed (apart from the missing umbrella in the cupboard). The leopard print bedspreads gave it a african touch! ;o) When the evening garden lights came on it gave the atmosphere a magical feel. It was just a little unfortunate we had a downstairs... more

We stayed here for one night, but would have liked to stay for one more, and made more of the terrace and the views while relaxing a bit. The view from the terrace is truely stupendous, especially at sunset - make sure you are back at the lodge in time to enjoy it - we saw many jeeps coming back... more

Serengeti Tented Camp - Ikoma Bush Camp

Jun 30, 2008

I am a professor of tourism management at Boston University and I took a graduate class to Tanzania to learn about tourism development in a developing African country. We spent 2 nights at the Ikoma Bush Camp. It was one of the most unique and best experinces that my students had. The camp was well maintained and the tents were... more

We stayed at Mbuzi Mawe Tented camp on our last night. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It is about a 1 hour drive from the Seronera Visitor center. The reception area is lovely. It has a computer with internet access, an area with nice couches and armchairs and a small bar and gift shop. There is a terrace with lovely views... more

Klein's Camp

We just came back from our trip to Tanzania for our honeymoon and Klein's was one of the two safari lodges we visited (Ngorongoro Crater Lodge was the other). We can't rave enough about Klein's! Everything was out of this world! The food was delicious every day and so fresh (all of the vegetables are grown in a garden on... more

Like the other national park hotels owned by Hotels & Lodges group in Tanzania, this hotel isn't anything spectacular in terms of rooms, service or food, but all three were acceptable. As with other hotels on the northern circuit (eg Ngorongoro & Lake Manyara), the main selling point is really the location/view. Just being in the Serengeti is an incredible... more

We stayed 2 nights in tent 5 (elephant) overlooking the Serengeti. We went for the wildebeest migration and saw many herds during our two days. We could even watch from our porch! The tent was large and well equipped. Good showers, huge bathsheets and plenty of storage space. The staff was very nice and attentive. They learn your name quickly.... more

We stayed one night and enjoyed our brief stay. The tent was huge, and comfortable. Only problem was, upon check in, no torch was in the room. The 2 men who brought our luggage assured us that they would get one. After about an hour, we walked to reception to inform the manager that we needed a torch. About 30... more

It's technically a "tented" camp, but the tents have beautiful hardwood floors, and marble counter bathrooms... Lovely! Accommodations are beautiful, pool area had a fantastic view, and food was great. Our 8-year old daughter loved the dik-diks (tiny antelope) sleeping between the tents at night. My husband said he even had a great martini in the bar! Great location in... more

Olakira Camp

This was the first "proper" safari camp of our honeymoon. I have been travelling to Africa since 1998 and stay in a wide variety of accomodation, from seriously luxurious to a sleeping bag on a kopje under the stars. Olakira is with out a doubt the best place I have ever stayed! It's not the most luxurious but it's also... more

I enjoyed staying at the Serena Seronera Lodge. The lodge is actually a main reception and restaurant area surrounded by a few dozen small buildings each with 4 guest-rooms in them. Some of the rooms were a bit of a walk from the central area, but ours was right nearby which was nice. The lodge is located about 30 minutes... more

This place was a "late substitution" for us and it did not disappoint in any way. The service is impeccable - hot water bottles at night - lovely. The butler was superb - tea at wake up and lovely biscuit (after all I could never have made it to breakfast without some more sustenance!). The food was not over-fussy and... more

The Serena has a great lodge ambience and safari style, and the public areas, especially the bar and dining room, are cozy and inviting--it is a great place to enjoy a post-game drive drink and watch the sun set over the Serengeti. The food was really good, too, although the drinks were pricey. The rooms, however, in 2 story Maasai-style... more

We stayed at Sopa unexpectedly, as the rainy season monsoon made the tented camp unavailable at the last minute, and given the posts here I was dreading it. However, it appears that most of the reviews here are pre-renovation and now totally irrelavant. We found the refurbished hotel more than satisfactory and considerably better than expected. The rooms at the... more

As part of our 2 1/2 week International Expeditions safari in Tanzania and Kenya during March 2008, we stayed at a tent camp on the lower slopes of the rock outcrop in the middle of nowhere in the Serengeti called Naabi Hill. We arrived by LandCruiser after a trip from the Ngorogoro crater over some rough and tumble roads to... more

Yep, tired is probably about the best description. Set in a wonderful landscape and surrounded by great wildlife the Serena needs a significant facelift. I guess the place was built in the 80s and it has not had much love and attention since then. On the positive side staff were friendly, rooms were reasonably clean, bed was comfortable and food... more

We stayed at Olakira as part of a seven day safari. Olakira was our first destination - and it was fabulous. As soon as we arrived we were greeted with cold flannels and a cold drink which was lovely. Our tent, one of only 8, was lovely - fairly spacious, with a comfortable bed. The toilet was chemical and very... more

Serengeti Tented Camp - Ikoma Bush Camp

Mar 25, 2008

The Ikoma Bush Camp was much more than what I expected for tented lodges. The tents where very comfortable and the bathrooms where extra clean. The hot water was a bit of a problem but the scenery was more than expected and compensated for the hot water problem. The staff was very nice and the service in the restaurant was... more

Mar 13, 2008

We traveled in Tanzania for a month in July '07 and started our trip at Sayari camp in the northern Serengeti. The only down side to this was that everything was downhill from there in terms of accommodations--we had amazing experiences elsewhere too, but it would be difficult to compete with Sayari! First of all, the setting is beyond words.... more
