Remota

So. California
Sep 26, 2008

I'm a little late in writing this review, but I stayed here for 4 nights in December 07. Like many people, I found Remota when the Explora was booked. I didn't have high expectations, but I was very happily surprised. While the architecture is a little weird, the building and it's surrounding are unusual, beautiful, and certainly not like anything... more

Hostel Natales

Aug 13, 2008

Having read the previous review about Hotel Natales, I feel compelled to tell of our experience there, which was wonderful. It was low season when we stayed, so not very busy and freezing weather, but you walk in to roaring fires in the two lovely communal areas with beanbags and sofas and an even warmer welcome (cheesy, but true!) The... more

Most impressively designed hotel in my 2 months trip across South America! The staffs were very kind. The breakfast is very healthy with many variety. The scrambled egg was sooo good! It is a bit off town (about 20 minutes walk), but the walk was with great scenary and I didn't mind it. The 2 downsides were - The night... more

Costa Australis

Jul 25, 2008

The reviews I read about the hotel are fair. The Costa Australis hotel is centrally located in Puerto Natales. The hotel is very comfortable with and an excellent lounge area over looking the sea. The rooms let it down a bit. More middle of the market chain hotel rooms than genuine 4 star. In other words functional, clean, a bit... more

Comfortable, clean and good service My husband and I stayed in Casa Cecilia for just one night before heading off to Torres del Paine, I contacted Casa Cecilia two months before our arrival to secure a reservation and to ask them to please help us arrange our hiking to trip to Torres del Paine. Communicating with them via email was... more

one of the most impressive places I had ever seen. great mountains, great landscape around and good accomodation. my advice is to book the accomodation in time. I was in the tent camp closed to the torres del paine because the hostel was full. it was so windy that I coudn't spleep and the tent get broken. (beginning of january).... more

Weskar Patagonian Lodge

May 26, 2008

Only stayed one night but we found the Weskar to be very clean and comfortable. Our room was large with two extra beds and a sofa - obviously a family room and so we had plenty of room for luggage. The view was spectacular. A previous review mentioned that the room price is high, but we found that was case... more

My husband and I stayed at the Remota a few weeks ago and had a wonderful time. I cannot speak highly enough about this hotel, and I would recommend it to anybody. In planning our trip to Chile, we wanted a place from which to explore Patagonia and the Torres del Paine national park. We didn't know whether we should... more

Having read a couple of extremely negative reviews I was a little concerned about what was in store for us at Remota. Well I needn't have worried. From the moment our driver delivered us to the Hotel, where we were personally greeted by the manager, everything was excellent. Guides and excursions - The main focus of staying at Remota has... more

This was the only hotel I did not book myself for our trip. It was booked through a local travel agent who was arranging my huts/bus/boat for the W trek. The place was fairly cheap but otherwise I was a little disappointed for the following reasons: Location is fairly far from town. Of course "far" is relative as the entire... more

The all day trip from Puerto Natales is well worth the day and it is not expensive. They stop before the park so you can buy a bag lunch, but I would strongly recommend getting things the day before in Puerto Natales and making lunch before you start the tour. And be prepared for strong winds as others have mentioned. more

Cecilia is a gem and a sweetheart. She arrabged a pickup for me in Punta Arenas to bring me to Peuto Natales that worked well. Additionally, when a trip to Torres del Paine did not show up in the morning, she found another tour, called a cab and they took me to the tour' first stop. Saved the day. Great... more

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Remota. We had the option to book Explora but choose Remota instead, and we were very pleased with our stay. Unlike Explora, there are excursions outside of the park, all over Patagonia, so you get a definite feel for the region and the people. We have traveled many places, and the... more

Where to begin - our experience at Remota was nothing short of amazing. My wife and I (both 26) decided to take our vacation to Patagonia for a few reasons - superb food and wine, a feel for the Chilean culture, and Patagonian outdoor experiences such as hiking, horseback riding, Torres del Paine, and seeing icebergs and glaciers up close.... more

What a treat. Indeed it is very zen. No cushy carpeting here. Everything is clean, concrete, efficient, but quite comfortable. Design of the hotel built into a hillside makes you want to explore the hotel's ramps and byways. Our room had a fabulous view of the lake. Away from what there is of town, quiet, serene, totally in the spirit... more

We stayed at this hotel in Oct 2006 during a tour of Patagonia. Great location if you are going to see Torres del Paine. Loved it! Fabulous and comfortable art-directed rooms in modernistic, almost Japanese style. It is different since it is built out of rammed- earth bricks and layered right into the hillside. Literally low-profile, you could almost miss... more

The Remota building was designed as a cheap build. Just look at the materials. The all in package means very average food and wine. Try asking for a wine list. I did for three days and still never saw one.The guides into the park are great but would rather work from a different hotel and the driver from the airport suggested... more

We loved the extraordinary design of the building and the huge bedroom. Every window offered a different stunning view and it was beautifully peaceful. Although it's true that the rates are very high, all snacks, drinks and meals are included - and every meal we ate there was excellent. The daily guided tours (including wonderful picnics with pisco sours and... more

We had an exceptional stay at Indigo Patagonia. We stayed there 3 nights to rest after some trekking in Torres del Paine. It was great from the seconde we went through the door step.
