Chris and Sue welcomed us into their very homey guesthouse for the evening. Sue showed us the drinks bar immediately (it was a long day of traveling and meetings), and left us in peace in our very clean and comfortable room. Dinner was a very creative salad, which accommodated the vegetarian in the group nicely. The young woman at our... more

There is no reception. You have to call the owner who then sends out a very overworked black woman to show you to your room. We only saw the owner when she came to collect our money. She gave us incorrect directions to our dinner restaurant (it was actually on the other side of town). The beds are like sleeping... more

Elephant Whispers is within 5 minutes of the Hippo Hollow hotel complex. . It takes orphaned/injured/etc elephants and cares for them . The lovely couple who run it have taken a big financial risk as they have had to purchase a large acreage to grow the food needed and give the elephants space to grow and build the premises. We... more

We stayed orginally in August 2001 and returned this year in June and the only thing to have changed is the size, it now has more lodges. We (my wife and I) booked a one bed lodge but was given the keys to a 4 bed lodge!! We phoned reception to make sure we were in the correct lodge and... more

We stayed here for two nights during the first week of September, 2008. We'd flown in to Jo'burg from Livingstone, Zambia, and were looking for a place to stay from which we could reach the middle of Kruger easily. I'd read good things about the Blyde River Canyon and wanted to do the Panorama Drive (largely disappointing due to all... more

From the moment you set foot inside Heysbrook Country Lodge you feel as though you are welcome, as if you have come to visit long lost relatives in their beautiful country home. The staff are attentive, the food is divine, the rooms are private and comfortable, the views are exceptional and the bird calls that echo down the gorge are... more

ABSOLUTELY LOVED ELLIE PLAINS……… Sabi Sands is my favourite reserve - and having previously been fortunate enough to experience some of the very luxurious and expensive camps in this area, I now am delighted to be able to enjoy the same outstanding game viewing but at a reasonably priced lodge like Elephant Plains which offers relaxing and beautiful accommodation, abundant... more

A sad and tired lodge. We stayed in Lodge for one night, just as well as it was a dissapointment. The rooms are tired and dated. Came with 2 teenagers and not a suitable place. There is much better value for money around the area. Not to return! more

We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at the Narina Lodge in Tinga game reserve within the Kruger National Park I had worried that I my expectations may have been too great but I was not disappointed at all. I found this guesthouse when the owner of the one we were supposed to stay at did not arrive to let us in. The Purple Gecko staff were very nice, particularly since I was tired, dirty, and very upset about the previous place. The atmosphere was good, the rooms were very nice, and the owner took special pains to make... more

We stayed in Tinga Legends Lodge for 6 nights. We have travelled to many game lodges but by far Tinga has an exquisite feel to it fuelled by excellent staff and brilliant food. We will definitely be back. We sat in our heated pool on deck with 5 elephants surrounding us. I cannot recommend Tinga highly enough. Just do it! more

We visited this website before we left for SA and were a bit concerned after reading the last review... as our travel agent had booked us into the lodge for a two night stay. However, our concerns were completely unfounded. Needles is under new management and the couple that now own the lodge have turned it around. The place is... more

We stayed here for one night on our way through to Mozambique and loved it so much we came back 2 weeks later. The rooms are wonderfully decorated and spotless, as are the beautiful grounds.
