I have visted Dachua several times, taking my daughter the most recent visit. This is surprisingly localized camp. Dachau is a quick jaunt from Munich or even from Garmish (Which was our most recent starting point) This is a well organized museum. The information is well presented and in a manner that presents the progression of Nazi Germany. The grounds... more

We stayed here while visiting Munich for Oktoberfest. We didn't plan ahead and all the rooms available in Munich were extremely expensive. The hotel was clean and the rooms were actually quite large. The beds were very comfortable. It was a pretty good walk to the train station which took about 20 minutes, about the same time as it took... more

Aurora Hotel

We stayed at the Aurora Hotel during the final two nights of our two-week vacation. The price was high because it was Oktoberfest. They put us in a small apartment that was filthy. The bathroom had hair on the floor, the carpet was dirty, the balcony hadn't been cleaned and the metal security blind on the balcony door was half... more

What a wonderful hotel on a very quiet street with one of the best restaurants in Germany. We actually felt like we were home from all the hospitality we received. The street had big beautiful trees surrounding the neighborhood and the bus stop is only a few steps from the hotel. The rooms were spacious and extremely clean and they... more

Dachau was easier to reach than I expected, a rather endearing, small provincial town just outside Munich on the main line to Petershausen. It's suburban 'feel' adds to the sombre feeling that something was dreadfully wrong with war-time Germany, as the camp housed 63,000 people on a site about a big as a small retail park on the outskirts of... more

I travelled to Dachau on an educational tour with Explorica in July. Our visit to Dachau was a very eye opening and educational experience. Every person visiting Germany must make a trip to Dachau! Whether you are young or old I think its important everyone experiences a trip to this concentration camp. The site is very well laid out and... more

We stayed for one night at the Zieglerbrau, to enable us to see the concentration camp before returning home next day from Munich Airport. The hotel is picturesque on the outside, covered in beautiful climbing plants and next door to the old Rathaus.Inside, the public rooms were charming and traditional, while our bedrooms were quite modern with comfortable beds and... more

Stayed at this hotel for one night as we wanted to visit the concentration camp the next day. We landed on a late flight to munich and arrived in Dachau about 9.30 pm. The hotel is in the heart of the town and is very easy to find. There is limited parking in front of it but you can drop... more

This is an absolute must see if you are visiting Munich. It's very easy to get to and a very sobering experience as others have indicated. Do not miss this on your tour to Munich! more

One of the places I felt I was obligated to go to when I came to Germany was Dachau. This is a lesson of past attrocities and a warning for the future. I feel everyone should make this trip, as it is one you will never forget. The exhibition is free of charge and relatively easy to get to. The... more

My husband and I visited Dachau in early March 2006. We didn't do a tour as we wanted to take our time and experience the place at our own pace. We are extremely glad that we chose to do it this way after suffering thorough a terribly inadequate tour of Auschwitz a few weeks later. Dachau is easy to reach... more
