Loch Lyme Lodge

A fantastic getaway from the rat race and daily grind, and a great place for a green environentally friendly vacation too. You stay in rustic cabins that do not have tv and air conditioning etc, and you can choose to dine at the lodge or cook for yourself, depending on the cabin. The food was excellent at the lodge. I... more

Love the Loch Lyme Lodge. My family had fun meeting new friends. Our son played with other children in a fun and safe environment. Food was very well prepared with an eye towards local produce, as well as items grown on-site. Staff was friendly and caring and even volunteered to babysit our son one night while we had an intimate... more

My wife and I were looking for a beautiful New England getaway and we found one in Breakfast on the Connecticut. We were there during the height of the fall season and the views were spectacular!!!! The inn sits on top of a hill overlooking the Connecticut River and we sat for hours outside on the lawn chairs just enjoying... more

Where do I begin?! The purpose of our trip was to attend a wedding last summer...unfortunately we experienced tornado conditions the night before we were due to leave, allowing for no available flights to Manchester the next morning. I called the owner as soon as I got the news letting him know I'd only be able to fufill one night... more

We had an outstanding top to bottom experience at this extremely well run, clean and high quality Bed and Breakfast . The hosts are an articulate and organized couple who were most helpful, providing us with maps and points of interest recommendations. The breakfast is incredibly good -- gourmet level and made to order. The Inn is located on a... more

We had our rehearsal dinner and wedding at the Dowds', and it was lovely. The rooms and the inn are very comfortable; the indoor spaces were perfect for our reception, and many of our friends and relatives spent long hours rocking in chairs, sitting in the sun on one of the patios, or throwing the frisbee on the expansive back... more

I titled the review THE PERFECT COUNTRY INN because reading all the other reviews, I can only conclude, that everybody wants The Ramada sterility WITH old world charm. Fine, stay at The Chesterfield. Just be ready to pay $650 for 2 nights. I’ve stayed all over The White Mountains of New Hampshire for over 30 years, & Dowd’s is the... more

After 8 wonderful days here, I felt as if I were leaving home! John and Donna Anderson were very warm and helpful. The food was "to die for" and it was hard to make a choice from the two gourmet entrees. Only on the last day did we get wise; my husband ordered one and I ordered the other, and... more

My family and I stayed at the Dowds' Country Inn this summer. While the Inn, grounds and gardens are pretty, breakfast was good, the comfort of the beds and ventilation ruined the whole experience. We checked in between 9:00 and 9:30 PM and were very discourteously greeted by the clerk who informed us that we were late and that he... more

The location is indeed beautiful, and we couldn't have asked for more wonderful weather and setting. We were at the inn with a wedding party (most of the inn was occupied with guests and the rehearsal dinner and reception were on the inn's grounds). It was obvious from the beginning of our 3 night stay that the hosts felt completely... more

I had almost the same experience as the review below. I had my wedding there last year and while the event itself was very happy- there were a few problems that were not addressed as people who are in the hospitality service should. Planning the event and the problems afterwards leave me with absolutely no good feelings about that place... more

The main road to the inn was not plowed when we had our visit. This caused us some concern becuase we are not from the area and do not have 4 wheel drive. The snow was high enough to hit the undercarriage of the car. When we went out for dinner we got stuck trying to leave becuase the road... more

I recently stayed at the Dowd's Country Inn in Lyme, New Hampshire while interviewing at Dartmouth. I paid $85 a night, which was cheaper than the going rate for most neighboring inns. I was one of the only two guests in the hotel, so perhaps my experience was more personalized than usual. Check-in was effortless, Ms. Dowd herself helped me... more

This is a wonderful place to stay. My husband and I stayed for a NY Eve package and it was perfect. The B&B is CLEAN and Donna and John are friendly and helpful. We had wonderful breakfasts and they were more than helpful when helping us plan fun and interesting activities to fill our day. We will be back, this... more

I used Dowd's as an inn for guests at my wedding, and couldn't have been more unsatisfied with the experience. They were rude, uncommunicative, and ended up not returning over $900 of my original deposit. Breakfast on the Connecticut and the Norwich Inn are far better options in the Upper Valley. more

This B&B looked lovely on the web -- nice photos, well located in relation to Dartmouth, etc. However, upon arrival for a 4-night stay, we found our room to be downright odd. The tub was, indeed, behind a curtain in the bedroom, and the toilet was in a closet. The innkeepers were civil but not exactly welcoming, and the posted... more

You hear about quaint little spots like this, but when you get there they usually disappoint. Not this one though! I fear that I will gush too much and dilute the facts with sentiment. Suffice it to say. I have booked a yearly stay. Thank you. more

I must say that both of my stays at Breakfast on the Connecticut were absolutely incredible. The location, the atmosphere, and all the amenities allow a guest to completely relax miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Starting the day with a breakfast beyond comparison could be followed by a quick walk through the woods. Or perhaps... more

I recently read the first review given regarding the quaint B&B in the middle of picturesque New Hampshire and felt I had to write a review myself. I can not speak to the experience they had but our stay was quite different. This is a beautiful and well kept B&B that blends in perfectly with the romantic New England countryside.... more

I was appalled by the review written on September 3rd and feel compelled to respond to the commentary regarding Breakfast on the Connecticut. That guest's comments couldn’t be further from the truth and I highly question their motives. The saying “there’s always one bad apple in the bunch” sure holds true regarding this guest. One of my favorite places to... more
