We had another wonderful stay at the Relais de la Magdeleine this summer. As most of the guests do, we stumbled across this jewel of a hotel several years ago and can't imagine visiting France without spending at least a few days there. Owned by the Marignane family for decades, the hotel is quintessentially French. A traditional bastide, surrounded by... more

Stayed for one night in May for the second time but the whole hotel is in need of some updating, it all seems tired and getting a bit past it's best. The rooms are clean but there is no air conditioning or mini bar. The pool is very nice with comy loungers and towels provided on request, but the staff... more

If you plan to stay in Aubagne for any reason, this is the best hotel in the area to stay in. Although quite small, the rooms are very presentable but the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Not close to Marseille and taxis are expensive (70 euros to get to Marseille) but close to Aubagne which is why I needed... more

This is a lovely hotel with impressive façade and huge plane trees overhanging the large terrace. The reception rooms are impressive, if old-fashioned, and looked lovely set for dinner. The bedroom we had was great – huge with nice antiques and comfortable bed. The bathroom was also large and modern. Service was polite but not overly friendly. We did not... more

This hotel is in a beautiful setting . You would never know that you are in a town. You feel like you are in someone's old chateau. The sitting rooms were lavishly decorated. The dinner is served outside lokking over the hills trees and pool. I felt the service was excellent. We called at 5pm for a room and asked... more

Very nice hotel. It is a pity that the owners give you the impression that your presence is a pain from the moment you check in and as long as you stay. You are not welcome, your pets - even nice and well educated - are not either. more

We loved the Relais de la Magdeleine enough to be returning this year. This is highly ususual for us. The room was nicely decorated and had adequate although not great air conditioning. The bathroom was large and clean. As usual, we had difficulty with the hand held shower. Other rooms have stand up showers if desired. This hotel is all... more
