The views from the room were amazing. The location on the peninsula was excellent, as well. Unfortunately, the room could have been cleanier and updated. We had a 1 year old with us, and her feet were black after walking on the carpet. I wished the inside would have matched the surroundings. more

tha sand dunes motel is a great place to stay to get away from every day life. if you are looking for a quiet laid back vacation or weekend this is the place to go. the rooms are clean and comfortable. very friendly service. we will be back again!! more

Sept 3, 2008. Someone recommended and we tried it. Happened to go on a Tuesday night when it was all you can eat Shrimp, steamed or fried. Found my wifes fried shrimp to be just about perfect. The Sand Dunes is a great family oceanfront motel near the Kure Beach Pier with access to multiple pools. We had an efficiency room which inlcuded stove, refrigerator, microwave-great for breakfast, lunch and saving money a couple nights on dinner. If you are looking for fresh seafood - do not go here. Our seafood was bland, the shrimp were rubbery, and the tarter sauce was awful. Our meal here was decent. She had the fried seafood platter which was quite good. I had the stuffed flounder. The flounder was good, the stuffing was ok. For the price I expected a lot more (quality, portions, decor, etc.). I would go back if I had no other choice, but would not make a special trip to eat there. more
