This used to be a nice hotel if you want to have total comfort in total silence, go for it. Only 10 of the 24 rooms are habitable, the service is excellent, but the hotel is dead, except for one couple there was nobody. The hotel is in a downward spiral because of lack of visitors and lack of funds,... more
My husband and I stayed here recently. There is no way we could fault the service, food or the accommodation. The young man in charge of the Health Club treated a sore knee I aggravated whilst there, much better than any other similar treatment I had had before. The food was delicious (I am now four pounds heavier!) and I... more
We stayed at the Blue Water for our honeymoon and it was excellent. All staff incredibly friendly, speak excellent English, and have a brilliant sense of humour. They'll remember your face at the bar! And, more importantly, what you're drinking!! Very helpful, they'll get anything you need. Beach literally within a few steps of the hotel pool. All very quiet... more
I stayed at The Blue Water with my daughter in Sept 2008 & we absolutely loved it. The staff were all incredibly friendly & helpful - nothing was too much trouble for them. Standards of hygiene are incredibly high - you never see a dirty glass or plate left around & people are always cleaning and polishing everywhere. It is... more
Third time to Sri Lanka and we decided to go it alone and rent an apartment which was great but we decided we needed some TLC (tender loving care) so we booked back at The Privilege and that is exactly what we got, from the moment we checked in to the time we left nothing is too much trouble for... more
I don't want to repeat the stuff that is well summarised in the previous reviews except to say research poya days, it's the PUBLIC consumption of alcohol that is not permitted. In summary, brilliant hotel, exceptional grounds, food good, bathrooms a little tired, would go again. Here's some detail not already covered. 1) hygiene in the hotel is good. Outside... more
We stayed at the Blue Water from 1st October to the 15th we booked with First Choice did not think much of Anand the rep we have had better. The hotel staff were very helpful the food was excellent the rooms were a little worn but clean, and the rest of the hotel was spotless. Could not fault either the... more
We stayed here from 1st-8th October 2008. We booked last minute through First Choice. A week was plenty to relax and enjoy this beautiful country. Room - We stayed in room 302, the room was excellent, cleaned daily. The room boy evens puts in a mosquito tablet each night (so no need to take these.) You get 2 bottles of... more
My husband and I have recently returned from 10 nights at the Blue Water (17 to 27 Sept 08). When we first entered our room (309) a damp smell ws the first thing I noticed and recalled that it had been mentioned in previous reviews. We soon seemed to get used to it though as I do not recall it... more
I stayed at this hotel in last July and I never recommend this hotel for anyone. Never book this hotel for your holidays. Room service is terrible and the staff is very unfriendly and rude. Also the hotel is not clean. I just asked some drinking water from hotel room but they didn't serve me and I did the same... more
I spent three days at Nidahasa and had a wonderful time. There are only three rooms at this boutique hotel and even though they were all taken, we hardly noticed anyone else around. We stayed in the Koboleela room which had a small tv, dvd set and surround sound with a collection of movies to choose from. The only issue... more
We stayed at the Blue Water in the 1st 2 weeks of July. Overall we had an excellent holiday. However, travelling with First Choice, we had the mis-fortune to lose a day due to technical difficulties with our aircraft which caused a return to Gatwick and an overnight stay until we could fly the following day. Relief at a safe... more
The infamous Blue Water Hotel - your reading this because you are considering whether or not to go. Summed up in a nut shell: its amazing! Keep reading for more details. The Hotel itself: The hotel is very spacious and minimalistic and very clean. The rooms aren't the biggest, however the overall quality is to a high standard. The beds... more
Great hotel, true the staff are so friendly and a pleasure to get to know, they are always smiling, although we did notice a difference in the 2nd week some were different staff and not as good. Say a big hello to 'Ranga' and 'Sudu' he is the lifeguard and is competing to be Mr Sri Lanka soon in weight... more
Stayed at the Blue Water for 2 weeks in June on an all-inclusive basis. Could not fault the hotel, service was great, they really can't do enough for you. Hotel is clean and has a contemparary feel to it. Food is great if you like to try different things, might be slightly difficult if you are vegetarian or a picky... more
Hotel charge for Orange Juice! Only cordial supplied for non-drinkers. Take note! Management make no exceptioinms. Nothing at all around Hotel, nearest attractions 4 hours away ! Good food and friendly staff, but won't be coming again. more
My husband and I stayed at the Blue Water hotel in April 2008. We were told that this was the end of their main holiday season and although it was sunny every day we also had a daily spectacular thunderstorm at about 4pm. I would reiterate the drawbacks mentioned by other travellers regarding the distance to the resort (after over... more
Just returned from Sri Lanka a few days back....it was an amazing trip...!! The Privilege made it all even better...!! The hotel has the friendliest and the most wonder full staff they couldn't do anything more to make us feel at home. The place is not very crowded a few resident guest only its part of the owner concept which... more
