If you like delicious organic food direct from the farm, jasmine, sage, and rosemary infused air, well maintained hiking trails with beauty, views, rolling hills, huge boulders, with rabbits, lizards and birds flitting about, you will love this place. The vibe of the place is healthy friendly and relaxed. You set your own pace and choose from the array of... more

Rancho Los Chabacanos was a very pleasant experience for my partner and I. The casitas were warm and inviting and the design was a classic "hacienda" style just as the web site described. The owner welcomed us and gave us a tour of the facilities and grounds. There is an apricot orchard, private lake (with freshwater shrimp) and the experience... more

I'm sharing this review because I couldn't find anything on TripAdvisor in the budget range (really couldn't find anything at all beyond the resort spa) in Tecate, so I had to just show up in town and ask around for a decent hotel. There aren't many hotels/motels in Tecate, so one's choices are pretty limited. I was recommended this place... more

An oasis in Northern Mexico focused on mind, body, and soul. Rancho La Puerta is a gem. A full week dedicated to healthy being from hikes in the early morning, to exercise classes at all levels throughout the day, a bit of pampering, and delicious food that is grown on their organic farm just a few miles away. What makes... more

Having visited the Ranch for many years, I have always found my stay to be inspirational with regard to body and spirit. One must first embrace the Rancho La Puerta experience by leaving the hectic technological world behind. Detach yourself from the blackberry, laptop and crazed schedule or you will never truly embrace what the Ranch has created - a... more

I spent a week in August at Rancho La Puerta and have a mixed opinion of my stay. I must agree with other guests that the landscaping and grounds are exceptional. The intricate and multi-dimensional landscaping is spectacular. There is tremendous artistic detail in the plantings, building and various architectural features. The stained glass doors at the reception area and... more

If you are expecting a Canyon Ranch experience you are going to be very disappointed .You are picked up in a very large coach at the Airport .Nothing exclusive here .Check in is chaotic at best .The rooms are motel type with no air conditioning .They do provide fans but I was very hot at night .The noise from the... more

We just recently had our family reunion at this place. And for the location and price, it's ok. We had just about 170 people and we had a blast. The place was mostly for us, with the rooms and the campsites taken up. There is power at the campsites, so it was neat to see the lights on over there,... more

This was my 3rd trip to Rancho La Puerta (the first being in 1995, 2nd in 2002, and latest July 2007), and it was even better this time than the previous two. The food, unbelievably, has improved which I thought would be impossible when Chef Bill Wavrin departed in 2002. Rancho La Puerta IS a fitness and health spa that... more

After hearing about the ranch through a friend and reading all the excellent reviews, I convinced a close friend to join me for a 'girl's week' of exercise, healthy eating, and relaxing. After an easy pick up at the San Diego Airport, we were shuttled to the ranch, and even given yummy granola on the way. The check in was... more

I loved my week there even more than I thought I would. I went alone, never felt uncomfortablem stayed in the smallest accomodation (Rancheria) and was VERY comfortable. Food was fantastic, classes wonderful, the staff very service oriented without being obsequious (sp?) The whole setting and ambiance "work" by the end of the 2nd day. I really did not want... more

My husband and I just spent a week at Rancho La Puerta (Jan 27-Feb 3) , it was great, kind of like camp for adults but with amenities and wonderful cuisine! We arrived in San Diego Airport and met the bus for Rancho la Puerta, that process was very well organized. We met the bus at 12:15 and about 2... more

I can well understand why everyone raves about the Rancho La Puerta Spa, after spending a week there in December. But there are some caveats that people should know about that you don't find out about until the first day. The spa's diet is good if you want to diet, but for someone not on a diet, you're going to... more

I visited the Ranch some 25 years ago and boy has it changed. This is an amazing place where a week is not enough to enjoy all the activites, the beauty, the mountains, the cuisine. We spent Christmas week there and it was amazingly wonderful. I tried the hot rock massage - fantastic - and the Golden Door facial -... more

A "meat and potatoes" man, I wondered how I would fare at Rancho La Puerta's given it's mostly vegetarian cuisine. In fact, the food was delicious and I didn't feel hungry or deprived the entire week. The food is top notch, 4-star restaurant quality (although don't go here thinking you'll be able to drink margaritas poolside; beer and wine is... more

This is my home away from home. I felt so terrific when I left. I worked my butt off in the classes and hikes and ate great vegetarian and fish dishes - and great desserts.
