I stayed at Kuranda Resort & Spa with my wife and 5 year old son. As someone that lives close by (Cairns) and works in the industry I was given a "special" discounted rate - $160 per night for 2 bed villa. I feel sorry for those paying full rate. Wow... an entire town that depends on tourism but treats tourists like crap! We had so many negative experiences with the local shopkeepers that we'll never recommend Kuranda. Real shame, as the scenery is gorgeous, but the people are rude, you can't go out safely at night, there's no police force, etc. etc. The only plus is the wildlife rehab... more
