There are just not enough words to say about our recent stay at the Fort Lewis Country Inn! My husband booked the Settlers Cabin at Fort Lewis to celebrate my 50th birthday for 2 nights. Wish we could have stayed longer but that's another story! First let me start with our cabin. It is a one room cabin with private... more

Loved this place. We went there on the last weekend before they closed for the year. Nothing much to do during our stay but we enjoyed it nonetheless. I gave it 4 stars because even though they welcome children, the mealtime was not ideal for people with young kiddies. Dinner was served at 7:30 pm but by the time we... more

This place is in the middle of a 3000 plus acre farm, but they really do a good job. We rented a stand alone cabin which I would recommend over the lodge. The food was included (Breakfast and dinner) and it was a combination of country cooking and healthy use of natures bounty=healthy! Lots to do and good for families.... more

We can not see how there could be a negative review of Fort Lewis Lodge. We have been visiting there for years and each time it seems to get better. Perhaps ten visits. We have recommended it to our friends and members of our family and everyone is delighted. Caryl and John are always welcoming and thoughtful and provide an... more

My husband and I stayed here for one night on August 5, 2007. I had a very pleasant experience corresponding with Carol and booking our room. In fact, we wanted to stay in one of the lower priced cabins and only the Tall Timbers cabin was available. Carol booked us in the Tall Timbers for the same rate as the... more

We truly enjoyed our stay at this Inn. We were looking for a place to relax on the first few days of our trip -- and this was just the place. The Inn keepers are friendly and helpful -- and helped us plan our day trips and answered endless questions about their Inn, the property and the area. The breakfasts... more

What's not to love about Fort Lewis Lodge? My husband and I returned after five years to find the same fabulous country retreat, the delightful Caryl and John's friendly faces, the charming accomodations and the stunningly good cooking. As soon as we arrived, John came out to greet us with his jaunty and friendly manner. He is easy-going, and the... more

We had the best time! I spent my summers as a child at a small girls' camp not far from the Lodge, and had stayed at the Lodge twice before (once with friends, once with family). This trip, however, was even better than the others! We went in the Autumn when the trees were at their most glorious so I... more

Words cannot descibe the feeling you get upon arrival to this quiet, quaint yet complete oasis set in thr rolling green hills of the Shenandoah Vallley. The gracious hosts are likely to make wish you had a longer stay...we sure did! My family was pampered, fed VERY well & there was so much to do (or not do) that we... more

I cannot say enough about this delightful place and its owners. I consider it a little bit of heaven in Bath County. Every time I go to Fort Lewis Lodge, which is about five times a year, I leave feeling renewed, restored, and rested. The accommodations are first class and the food is second to none. The scenery is spectacular... more

My husband and I needed a place to relax and recharge from the everyday grind of work and responsibilities. Fort Lewis Lodge was just what the doctor ordered. The seclusion and quiet provided the needed sanctuary, the scenery was absolutely beautiful and the wildlife was everywhere. I hadn't heard a whippoorwill since I was a child, and the first night... more

Just got back from a long weekend in the mountains of Viriginia in Bath County. Ft Lewis Lodge is a small family run inn. Took the wife and two kids, ages 8 and 10, and had a great couple of days exploring, fishing, swimming, and eating. Great place to relax. There are no TV's in the rooms or phones. Our... more

My wife, five-year-old son and I stayed at Fort Lewis Lodge in July. For the most part, it was a terrific family vacation experience. Our accommodations (we stayed in one of 3 cabins) were roomy and clean, if not stylish or luxurious. The homestyle food, served buffet style, was tasty and plentiful. And the setting is as tranquil and beautiful... more

Just got back from 4 days at Ft. Lewis Lodge, and find the previous review very accurate. My husband and I, plus 4 teens, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. My youngest said, "Mom, I could really get used to this lifestyle!" If your kids like the great outdoors, this is paradise! Most memorable moment: Walking back to the lodge after dinner... more

My husband, nearly 13-year-old son and I stayed here last weekend. The lodge is on 3,200 acres with spectacular views of the Allegheny mountains, farmland and the Cowpasture River. It is a great mountain retreat. Rooms are not luxurious, but are clean and comfortable. Caryl and John Cowden (the owners) make guests feel very welcome and the atmosphere is very... more
