We headed out early to begin our hike. (We left our Bright Angel Cabin at about 5:45 am.) My husband and I were intermediate hikers ready to improve our experience and our difficulty level. We packed sunscreen, 12 water bottles and a combination of granola/nutrition/power bars in one backpack and carried the camera in another. We purchased wooden walking sticks... more

Visiting the Grand Canyon in 1995 was the highlight of my entire life! I spent three days there, which included an overnight stay at Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the Canyon. Bright Angel trail was the trail I chose to use because first, I was a moderate hiker, and the Park wardens suggest that I of moderate experience should... more

My husband and I, along with our brother-in-law, hiked to Phantom Ranch via the Bright Angel Trail. Before we went on this hike, I tried to find as much advice as I could for the trip and found the TripAdvisor reviews helpful, so I wanted to give as many tips as I could to potential hikers... Before I begin..we range... more

Came from Grand canyon Bright Angel trail few days ago... I think it a suprb place to be.. but one thing that the hikers have to rememer is that, not to try to go to the base and come back to the top in one day, specially if you are not a professional hiker.. It is a totally different hike... more

My husband and I hiked to the 1 1/2 mile rest house on Halloween. The weather was terrific so that made it that much better. We started down around 11 and I was surprised by the amount of people already coming back up at that time. I was also alarmed by all the huffing and puffing but gamely kept going.... more

After hiking down the south kibab trail the day before and spending the night at bright angel campground we hiked out BA trail Oct 4. We left shortly after 8:30 am. and got to the top around 4 pm, although we stopped alot to take pictures and just to enjoy the trip, remember its not a race. We got about... more

I went down the Bright Angel Trail last summer. I am quite a good hiker, but I was a bit frightened walking down and had to hug the side. It made me dizzy. There are some spots that are quite narrow so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone afraid of heights. You can see the real beauty of the Grand... more

We stopped at the Indian Gardens, which is the longest recommended daily trip by the official Grand Canyon's guides. But now we regret we didn't go further! The hike is easy if you are used to a bit of sport say once a week. We started at sunrise and the hike down was basically all in the shade. By the... more

After hiking down South Kaibab Trail and spending the night at Phantom Ranch the day before, my wife & I (both 55) got a late start up Bright Angel Trail...around 7am. Everyone else at the Ranch disappeared as soon as there was light...around 5:45am (mid-Sep.). The 9.65 mile trek with a vertical rise of 4,214' took us exactly 7-hours but... more

I was told not to attempt a run from the rim to the river in the same day but I did it anyway. It took (5) hours. It was not that difficult. I am (45) years old and a slow runner. Going down was easy(watch your step for loose rocks) and going up was not so bad until the last... more
