Our family visited Cabarete for two weeks Dec.\04. We had a wonderful time on the beach, checking out the small shops, resturants, grocery stores and nightclubs. it was so bad the hotel was invested with all the worst bugs known to man. the a/c didnt work and the ppl were very rude i would of rather of sleept on the streets of brooklyn more

I went to Cabarete the first week of June 2004 to windsurf. I made my hotel reservations and windsurfing package through Vela Windsurf Resort (velawindsurf.com). The reservation staff in the US was excellent. They can answer any questions you have about the properties available. This was only the second time for me to windsurf, so I got the beginner's package.... more

I went to the DR for springbreak with a group of friends and had the best time of my life. The weather was unbelievable. I got increadibly tan, and the sun was prefect, not too hot at all. Stayed there in March '97, so info. may be a bit dated. Stayed at Cabarete Beach Hotel, where accomodations were decent. Cabarete as a town was much more endearing than the nearby Sosua. Will go back in January '04, will stay at the new Velero Beach Hotel. more

Didn't enjoy Cabarete, but my friends did. Pros: Rooms from $15/night. Decent beach. Cons: Felt very third world. Noisy, smelly scooters on one main road. Kids hawking typical unimaginative stuff on the beach. Don't stay in the town of Cabarete. Go up the road where the hotels/restaurants are much better. Contrary to advertising, not the best windsurfing location for beginners... more

went to cabarete in 5/2003 and had a ball . great place ,beautiful beaches and friendly people. a real bargain with prices that are great . beach front dining for under 6 bucks you cannot beat. great adventures and tours that are reasonable and fun. loved it so much i brought a condo so i intend to return and rent... more
