I spent a week at the Mongoose Apartments in early December '07. The accommodations were flawless, and CGB made a convenient base for exploring. But the beach was a disappointment. On the plus side, the view is indeed gorgeous. I also enjoyed being able to walk to dinner at the pleasant selection of laid-back restaurants and ate quite well most... more
Well I am one of those cruise folks who had the opportunity to visit Cane Bay Beach. Fortunately, I was with a group who knew the island so we rented a truck for our visit on the island. The advantage I guess I have with cruising and the fact that I am a Travel Agent; is that I can go... more
Check these photos -- this bay is heaven on earth. Maybe one of these reviewers arrived when the "Cruise Alert" brought a hundred cruise ship passengers to Cane Garden Bay. Don't worry, they leave in a couple of hours. And the flotsam and jetsam that they leave behind is quickly tidied up, leaving the beach as virginal as it is... more
Give me a break! The last reviewer said there was "overdevelopement"?? Where?? Were they at another beach? We were in Cane Garden Bay for a week. Stayed at the Mongoose Apartments. Great place. The beach here is absolutely beautiful. White sand; clear, turquoise water. We've been to Mexico, the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, and Turks and Caicos, so we know a... more
We stayed right by CGB and loved it. We knew ahead of time that it would be busy on cruise ship days, so we did other things on those days, such as day trips to other islands, a day sail, or seeing the other sights on Tortola. CGB is a great home base for a land based trip in the... more
This place used to be beautiful, but has been turned into a dump by overdevelopment. What a shame. How can they allow all the tacky crap on this once pristine place. more
We've been to CGB many times, and it's fine, beautiful, fun as long as no holiday "powerboat conventions" are happening. We moored there last 4th of July after a stay in heavenly Anegada, and it was culture shock - dozens of big powerboats dropped anchor & were tied up next to each other just off the beach. Noisy & unsafe. more
On our 2nd visit to the beautiful BVI and Tortola we decided to stay at Quito's - The Ol works Inn at Cane Garden Bay. We had spent the first part of our holiday at sea (Check out Horizon yacht charter if you're into sailing) and now had another week on land. We are: mum, dad and a 2 year-old... more
To the far left, there is decent snorkeling about 40 yards out. To the far right are a few choices for drink or lunch. Several shady areas. My teenagers liked it. I preferred other beaches. more
