This place is great if you have been window shopping a lot at your local Louis Vutton, Gucci, Prada, Kate Spade, or Coach Store. You can get a wide selection of I would say "replica" bags for an extremely good price. Of course the value is gained or earned in your bartering technique. One example I was bartering on a... more

Street markets are part of the cultural experience of some countries and one of those things you have to do at some point. I cannot say though that I would choose the straw market to do so unless you're after fake designer handbags. I was dissapointed by the lack of more traditional, handmade bahamian goods as most stalls were selling... more

Hello!!! Some people are acting like this is the craziest thing they've ever encountered! The straw market is perfect--if the market atmosphere is appealing... Go to Hawaii, go to Mexico, go to Europe. Every market place is the same. Of course they're knock-offs. Of course it's hot and cramped and you have to barter! That is most of the fun!... more

The straw market in nassau is fun. We spent about an hour. A lot of the stands inside are very similar. A few with hand carved wood items - can watch the man make them. Knock off Rolex, Prada, etc. Some stands have better prices to start with than others. Found 4 t -shirts for $10 ! Brought back gifts... more

We found the straw market to be cheaper than the gift shops around town with the same merchandise. While the people can be a little pushy, keep in mind that they are just... more

Its very crowded, but the place to shop for everything. Be a smart shopper and bargain with them, they will drop the prices to lower than half. My sister in law, bought a straw hat, they started by being aggresive and saying $30, but we ended up paying $13. Be aggressive and stand your ground, you can get really cheap... more

I some what understand the revuews the Straw Market gets. If you are unaware about the straw market and just go it can be imposing. It is like going into a HOT car dealership. There are a lot venders calling out to you to buy their products. They are trying to make a living that way. All you have to... more

there was NOTHING here that we even wanted and we had to buy some souveniers for the kids!!!! we paid $8 (bartered down from $15) for cheap necklaces I can buy in Claires at the mall for $4.50. It's all junk from China!! except for the straw items or some grossly expensive wood carvings. more
