Coyoacan is indeed lovely and charming with beautiful plazas, buildings and gardens. Also charming are the restaurants with open-air seating along one side of the main plaza; however, be aware that at least one of those restaurants adds a "cubierto" or cover charge for the privilege of ordering and consuming a meal on their premises. more

I'd recommend taking an afternoon and spending it in Coyoacan, especially to get away from the hustle and bustle of Mexico City. Coyoacan is about a 15 minute cab ride. There are tons of cafes, a little craft market on weekends, Frida Kahlo's house, a small market all within walking distance. I would describe this town as quaint with lots... more
