During a recent trip to Victoria we decided to go to Butchart Gardens. We were a little hesitant to go because of the price but, it is well worth the cost of admission. There was almost too much to see! The sunken garden is just unbelievable, we spent alot of time in this area just strolling through the many paths... more

My 2nd favorite garden ever! The paths are easily followed so you can see the entire garden. In mid-September the flowers were still in great shape. Absolutely beautiful. Watch out for the information center though. I spoke with 3 different information workers and not one of them told me it would take at least 15 minutes to get a taxi.... more

I was sorry to read of a recent issue raised of obtaining a taxi at The Butchart Gardens. As an employee of The Gardens I know staff take great pride in providing useful and timely information to many thousands of visitors each year. As might be expected, taxi availability does vary upon the time of day and the weather. I've...

I went here on a Saturday during the summer (Aug 11th 2007) so that I could also take in the fireworks. I left downtown about 3, got the #75 transit bus out (about $2). Its about a 40-45 min ride and drops you right to the entrance gate. I was worried I wouldnt have things to fill my time between... more

Living near Longwood Gardens and being a frequent visitor there, I was prepared to make comparisons to Butchart Gardens. I couldn't. They are completely different and equally beautiful. Butchart Gardens is more formal, with a profusion of colors that strike you at every turn, making you gasp with each new view. We ate lunch at the 'Dining Room Restaurant', sitting... more

We visited the Butchart Gardens the afternoon of August 18th and spent about three hours there. Since we did not have a car and were in Victoria for only one day, we opted to purchase a Grayline transportation & admission combination ticket without a guided tour. Transportation cost $7 each way and the entrance to the gardens was $ 25.... more

My first gaze on what a garden should be was in the Butchart Gardens on Vancouver Island. Some people talk about having a religious experience. Well this was mine. The gardens were so beautiful and well taken care of that I half expected to find mythical creatures around each rock or tree. When night comes on is when the real... more

I was really taken aback by the 25 entrance fee. I really considered not going, I am so glad I went. We took the public bus out to the gardens. From the ferries, you can catch it if you walk up Belleville. It was $3 each way and does stop, but it beat the $7 fee across the street. It... more

Butchart Gardens is a tourist spot, but I totally enjoyed the place and I'd love to visiti again. In Canada, tourist spots are pretty expensive (e.g. Capilano suspension bridge is around $26) but I think Butchart Gardens is worth $26 and I highly recommend everyone to visit. But I think it is better to avoid weekends during summer time. I... more

When we decided to head to the gardens we were unsure of what to expect. When we entered we were amazed at the wonderful displays and the intense landscape! Everywhere you looked the gardens were full of a variety of colorful flowers and well maintained lawns. As you walked through the gardens you did not know where to look because... more

On my best day of blooms in my garden, I have never had one as beautiful as those in Butchart Gardens. It is not inexpensive, but truly worth the $25.00 entrance fee. The flowers and gardens are incredible and people from all over the world are visiting there. Wear comfortable shoes, as it is a large area to walk through.... more
