Halifax's Public Garden is a very tranquil escape from the Haligonian hustle and bustle. Located across from the Citdel, and a short walk uphill from the waterfront, it serves as a pleasant place to relax with its wooded paths, benches, fountains and pond side hide-aways, where ducks are tame enough to walk up face to face (just don't feed them).... more

In my 3 nights in Halifax, I spent more time at the public gardens than at any other attraction! The space has been nicely restored follwing the devestation of Hurricane Juan in 2003, and is kept-up beautifully by full-time staff. one of the most calming places to walk through and enjoy as you sit on a bench and people watch ..also the ducks as they swim in the pond......it is a beautiful landscaped gardens with little bridges and of course the bandstand where you can enjoy the music ..it is well taken care of and halifax should be very proud... more
