We did two of the very well sign posted walking trails in the Grizedale Forest (the Carron Crag walk and the Tarn walk). Parking was £4 for the day and the car parks near the visitor centre can get quite busy. The Forest was especially beautiful in the autumn. more

Spend a day in wonderful Grizedale forest. It has cycling trails, forest walks (with sculptures dotted around the way), with some beautiful views. My husband and I always spend at least 1 day there when holidaying in the lakes, will be back again in October. Grizedale forest is one of my favourite places in the world! The forest is gorgeous with loads of different walks. There is a nice little park and a picnic area with little shops. This is a great place to visit - something for everyone. 1. There are many signposted walks varying in difficulty. We opted for the strenuous 10 mile hike which took almost 5 hours and the views were stunning. The forest is full of wooden sculptures which you pass on the way. 2.
