A friend recommended the Imperial War Museum to us, and since we had a bit of extra time one day, we thought we'd give it a quick look. WOW...we both loved it, and we stayed until closing time. The displays are amazing, from the tanks and the planes and the boats and the submarines, to the downstairs exhibits of the... more

A fascinating exhibition for those who wish to know about Ian Fleming, the author of the James Bond books. Be aware that there is a lot to read, so go when it's quiet and don't expect a lot of film props. Children may find it a bit dull... more

While I agree with the previous reviewers who comment on the museum's quality of exhibits, I was expecting a more thorough review of Britain's global imperial military history -- not a quick take on modern events. The 20th Century is well-covered. But the previous 500 years are left alone. The modern history and hardware exhibits are quality as an overview... more

I went to this museum expecting nothing more than a few small exibits and some interactive displays, but was astounded by how interesting and large this place really was. It had artifacts from nearly every war you could think of, had displays of battle plans, real bombs and guns, actual V2 rockets, and Planes! It even had a real life... more

Apart from the regular exhibits the Imperial War Museum always seems to have interesting, well-presented special exhibits. A couple of years ago we say excellent exhibits on T.E. Lawrence and Children at War. This month (Jan 08) another excellent exhibition called "Weapons of Mass Communication" - an amazing collection of war propaganda posters. Also an interesting small exhibition about Rudyard... more

Lots of reviewers have already covered what is here so this cannot be much more than another voice in the chorus of positive reviews. Lots of floors and lots of stuff to see. You'll quickly pass hours and realize that you'd better go on and visit the rest of London. They had an exhibit on the Falkland Island war. Mostly... more

I targeted the museum on my business trip in part because the museum is free. The USD/STL exchange rate is terrible right now; I couldn’t see paying the equivalent of paying US$10~US$50 in entrance fees. So I sought out the Imperial War Museum. I got lost walking there, so be sure you have a map with you. The museum has... more

In short 5 floors about the British military during the 20th century. Alot to see, reflect on....every British involved is on display. Take some time to watch in detail the part of the attraction about the Holocaust. There is also a short video on the Holocaust. Furthermore, it is free and just a couple of tube stops from Westminster tube... more

My visit was on vile, wet and windy day, so maybe I arrived in a bad mood but I was not best pleased by the entry process. This is a free museum but you ae made to wait in a line as visitors in front of you are encouraged to buy books and audio guides. The problem with the IWM... more
