How do you build a structure to such suffering ? My senses were probably already heightened when yI approached the memorial. , nevertheless this is a great work. There were many people on the day I went but once inside it does envelop you. Walk straight down, left or right , it hauls you into the heart of the memorial... more
Located in the inner city around the Reicgtags building, Brandenburger Tor and Unter den Linden so there is no excuses not to visit it. Very strange feeling to walk between the columns because the pavement goes up and down. I have heard that there should exist some kind of a learning centre or exhibitions under the ground. However I did... more
After walking through the structure, don't forget to visit the exhibition below. more
Although the museum is contraversial, I think it is important to take a moment, and walk through this exhibit. It is quick, and reminds you for a moment in solemn silence the number of people involved from many different countries and cultures across the world. Upstairs, the maze of tomb-like structures is quite delightful to walk through. Kids were playing... more

Another architectural marvel of the city (and it’s full of them). It’s by the Brandenburg Tor and it pays to get lost in its maize for a little while contemplating what happened in WWII. It might seem cold at first but it’s very moving. We also went underground to the museum (it’s free) and although it became a bit too... more
I recently visited this memorial in Berlin, it was well worth the visit and the long queues for the underground information centre. I found it very moving (several people were in tears, including me) and informative. The Room of Families was particularly sad, with pictures of families taken in happier times accompanied by short biographies advising how they had all... more
