Somehow the Trevi Fountain manages to be more than the sum of its parts. Very beautiful and very impressive day or night. It does get busy though. Me and my wife got up at 4am and went. I'd recommend doing this. We were about the only people there but there is always police there too so it's not unsafe even at that time of night. more

You can't go to Rome without tossing a coin over your shoulder into the Trevi Fountain, it's tradition! Yes, it is crowded but it's pretty near the Pantheon and the Spanish Steps, so it's an easy stop. Also, there's some cheap souvenior shops near by. more

The trevi fountain for me, was by far the most outstanding sight in Rome. It is located down a side street near Barberini and is best to get and see it on a night if you can. It was a great way to end my trip to Rome and nothing else compares to it. more

Viewed in November, 2007. There are always going to be crowds around it so be patient. It can be chaotic. I was able to view at night and go back later the next day to also see in sunlight.
