Visited Lucerne In June 2007. I knew nothing of this monument prior to seeing it. Could not believe my eyes when we came upon this beautiful site. So wonderfully crafted and so realistic - I shall never forget the face and the 'expression' of feeling of that Lion. Took many, many photo's, but do so wish that I had purchased... more

During a recent European tour, we stopped at the Dying Lion Memorial. I could not stop looking at it. I ended up taking 18 pictures of the carving. I just kept snapping my camera from different angles, zooming in and out. Very captivating and moving. Beautiful! Visit the site if you have the chance. more

This is most likely the most moving tribute I have ever seen. It commemorates the honor and loyalty of the Swiss Guards hired by the French Royalty for protection. When the crowds, during the French Revolution, stormed the palace the Swiss Guards fought to the last man. Little did they know that the French Royalty had quietly slipped out of... more
