We rented a car for the day and did a self-drive tour of the Golden Circle area. We started with Thingvellir, and then proceeded clockwise, around the lake, to Geysir and then Gullfoss. We booked the tour with Iceland Excursions, the Gray Line local company, which is cheaper than the bigger Reykjavik Excursions, owned by Icelandair.
