If you are going to Krakow, do visit the salt mine at Wieliczka - it is truly amazing! We made our own way there by bus - 5 zloty each return (about £1). Once there you the tours are compulsory (45 zl each). It's worth paying the extra 10 zl to be able take your own photographs. Don't miss it! more

Wieliczka Salt Mine UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978. You can only enter the actual salt mine with a tour group, so look at the board just on the inside left of the entrance to see when the tours start. An inexpensive bus ride from Krakow, then about a 20 minute walk. Worth it to avoid the high cost of the taxis!
