Gone are the days when you could line up outside the White House and just get in. The only way to do it now is to make a tour request (and go through a police check) through your Congressman or Senator (I would recommend Congressmen, as Senators get a lot more requests). You can see the building and it is beautiful. And now i can tell people that i have seen it. I think seeing the guy on the roof with a rifle is cooler and the large man in the bushes just inside the fence with a rifle was pretty cool too... he almost scared me because i didnt see him... more
