After riding the metro and walking forever to get to the National Archievs, we were within feet of the door when the guard slammed the door shut. He clearly saw us but it didn't seem to matter. We double checked our watches and the times on the signs but the door was locked and we were out of luck. Without... more

We attempted to see this first time in mid afternoon where the line was circling well around the corner of the building. We decided to take and early dinner and return with much better success. This time it was only to a sign that said 45 min beyond this point. Maybe because it was close to closing, but the line... more

My son is ten and loved this place. Cool to see the Constitution and the Dof I but the exhibits were very interactive and found them to be great fun to learn about with him. Very hands on. more

We went on April 8th. We arrived 20 minutes before they opened with about 200 people already in line. The sign said they hold 400 people at one time, so we thought we were going to get in pretty quick. What I found out is school groups go in another entrance. We waited 1 more hour after they opened. We... more

Forget the movie National Treasure - its got nothing on the real deal. I took a group from my Boy Scout Troop to Washington DC and one of the highlights (as told by 32 teenaged boys) was the National Archives. It was unbelievably moving to actually look at the Declaration of Independance and the Constitution. To know that you are... more

This is a must see for all Americans. Our Decoration of Independence-our Constitution, all in a rotunda setting that is easy to get around. Photos without flash ok, security tight-be prepared to get purses/backpacks searched. A non-negotiable stop. more

We visited the National Archives in Washington, D.C. for the 2nd time this past week. I could never get bored of seeing some of our country's most significant writings. The Archives sits close enough to the National Mall that you could walk, but if that is not an option then a quick cab ride will get you there in no... more

My two daughters had the fantastic idea to come here. It looked and sounded interesting, so we headed in. Little did we know that this would be one of our very favorite attractions in Washington, D.C. ever. The area about the president's childhoods was very interesting. Seeing the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights was the... more

We arranged for a tour of the National Archives through Representative about 6 weeks prior to our trip to DC. With this type of tour, you arrive before the Archives are open to the public and go to the rotunda first. The exhibits are very interesting and it was amazing to see the original Declaraction of Independence, Constitution, etc. But... more

If you do ONE thing in D.C., this is it! I wish I'd read the reviews beforehand because a) I didn't know you could make a reservation and b) I almost didn't go because I thought it would be boring!! I AM SO GLAD I WENT AND WAITED IN LINE! So many interesting things, more than just the famous historical... more
