It is the #1 must-do thing in Hanoi. It is free. The other reviews/guides give you the gist -- you line up in 2 lines, usually with about 2000 schoolkids and other curious tourists. You walk steady from the back of the line through the room where they have Ho. No pictures or they might shoot you. You get about... more

Uncle Ho is a revered figure in Vietnam and his mausoleum is over the top. They line you up two at a time and in total silence you are allowed to walk by and view him lying in state. While it may seem goolish, it is a fascinating experience and take a moment to look at the faces of the... more
