the temple is a highlight of egypt. if travelling to egypt it is worth the flight to temple. if not the drive would be worth it with a good book food and drink for the ride. Ok, this is usually an 'at an extra charge' for Nile Cruises etc, but it is SO worth it. We are really glad we paid the extra money and got up at three in the morning, definitely a highlight of our cruise down the nile. more

I have just got back from backpacking across Egypt. I went to Cairo and saw the pyramids, Sharm and climbed Mount Sinai, Luxor and saw the Karnak and Valley of the Kings but my most amazing experiance and most stunning temple was Abu Simbel. It was a 3 1/2 hr journey from Aswan but well worth it. A must see... more
