The Bolshoi is a must for any visitor to Moscow - however - it is still under renovation. The shows still go on, and not only are they excellent, they are affordable. Hopefully the outside of the theater will be completed by the end of 2008. more

I have visited "Swan Lake" at Bolshoi on July 5. The Bolshoi ballet was absolutely fantastic, a really special experience. I happened to see another classical ballets, which was also good, but nothing compared to the Bolshoi ! I will have to come back to Moscow again soon to see the Bolshoi next time. The historic Bolshoi Theater is certainly one of the great landmarks in Moscow. Unfortunately, it was closed in 2005, for some much-needed renovation, and is not expected to be re-opened until the fall ballet season in 2008. Of course, that is the plan, but even in 2008 and beyond, I would check to see if it is, in fact, open... more
