There were no free maps going but some lady was selling maps of the cemetery for 4 pesos. I just followed the crowd to Evita's grave which was straight into the middle of the place then turn left about 3/4 into the cemetery. The entrance and tours of the Cementerio de la Recoleta are free, and they are very informative and interesting. In photographs, the cemetery looks like a small city. In reality, it is a city of the dead. Each tomb is different from the next. My first visit was on a sunny day (shortly after Christmas 2005) and many tourists were walking around looking for Evita's tomb. Evita's family tomb is beautiful but not outstanding or memorable.
