Loved the botanical gardens. Like everyone said, go early, it does get hot very early. We got there before 9am and had to leave by 11:30 because it was so warm. Make sure to check out the butterfly exhibit. I took lots of beautiful pictures of them. more

We went in early April, 2007. The temperature was in the mid 90's. The garden has an amazing assortment of plants and great views of the Phoenix area. Take your walking shoes and lots of water. You get very hot in the sun. Great if you need to get your kids to literally "run off" some energy. Well laid-out and... more

As the posters here have noted, it is a great visit. We especially enjoyed the station along the desert walk that had seeds to grind and when you did, cottontail rabbits... more

Well worth your time and money! We went in the morning...it was easy to find too! We spent 3 hours there - myself and my kids aged 12 and 15 immensely enjoyed it! Great experience of plant life in the desert - every kind of cactus to see - they were absolutely beautiful and incredible! Highly recommended! more

We recently attended a Bowl Game in Tempe and visited the gardens the day after the game. It was a beautiful Jan. day and we did a self guided tour. The volunteers were very informative and pleasant. We ate lunch outside at the gardent patio; try the prickly pear ice tea. They sell the tea bags in the gift shop... more

We went in August & got there a little before 8 am, which was a wise move as by 10 it is already warming up. There are plentiful drinking fountains to keep visitors going. The place seems to be run mostly by volunteers & it really comes across as a labour of love. The workers are very happy to answer... more

The desert botanical gardens are beautiful and there is hours worth of things to see - there are special gardens designed to attract butterflies, bees or hummingbirds which adds to the fun although in the 120 degree heat of mid august we were unable to stay too long! I would loved to have been able to brave the heat for... more
