This place is a complete rip-off. From the pre-ride wild west "show" to the constant haranguing for "tips" from the staff, it was just awful. And don't waste your money for upgrade to observation or higher class thinking it will be a respite from small children. It ain't. Grand Canyon Railway would be a great alternative for the National Park South Rim Parking Situation. Unfortunately, this once "Mom and Pop" well run operation has gone to the Corporate DOGS. We just got back from Williams, AZ. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed every minute of our vacation. I was nervous about the Hotel and food because of the bad reviews that I read. We had a wonderful time. Stayed at the Grand Canyon Railroad hotel in Williams, and at the Maswik Lodge at the rim. Baggage transfers were handled perfectly. The buffets were great. The Bright Angel Lodge restaurant was terrific, had a Grand Canyon Cobb (Kaibob) salad. The ride on the train both to the rim and back was just a great... more
