I think that the Winchester House is a place to see once in a lifetime. It is outrageously priced. You would think for the price you pay that the tour groups would be A LOT smaller. Nope. 30 people in a room is way too much, esp. if you want to get pictures. They treat you like cattle, pushing you... more

It was Ok but it's not worth $29. Tour lasted about one hour with a group of about 30 people. Nothing fascinating. more

Forget about all the ghost stories you've heard about this place, the Winchester House is a ;must-see' American historic landmark. Mrs. Winchester was a woman who's designs and innovations were years before their time. As elaborate as her house is, she developed and practiced many eco-friendly ways of conserving water and heat. The gardens that surround the house are beautifully... more

I was told about this house by a friend and, after checking the website, I decided to visit. I paid $29 for the full tour package, both inside the house and the 'behind the scenes' tour. The house is certainly fascinating, as are the brief glimpses into Sarah Winchester's personality and life. These glimpses were far too brief and it... more

This is a big waste of money. Sarah Winchester was nuts and if you go here, you will see proof of it. It is just endless building of rooms and stairs without any significance. It's like eating just for the sake of eating. Save your money and go to the theaters next door and see a movie. Anyone who visits... more

The major enjoyment I derived from a tour of this mansion was to see the workmanship of the details put into this rambling estate. I had expected a much bigger house knowing there are over a 100 rooms. Walking through the mansion gives you the feeling of exploring a fairy tale world. more

I took the main tour while in San Jose for a business trip. The tour guide was knowledgeable and funny, and the tour was thorough, lasting about an hour and fifteen minutes and covering about a mile. The guide was able to answer just about every question we threw at him. The house is an amazing site, you constantly wonder... more

Was there last Sunday and was actually quite surprised that it had its fair share of visitors considering that San Jose is not the most touristy place in the Bay Area. We just did the mansion tour. It was alright. An interesting look into life in the 1800's. Our tourguide made the tour interesting, funny and sometimes creepy. Too bad... more

Visisted the Gift Shop on 8.25.2007and had to go to the restroom On my way to it, I noticed how lovely and clean the grounds were but that was nothing compared to the restroom The fanciest restroom I have ever encountered included a stunning stainglass window and decorator celing fan. It was so fabulous that I had to take a... more

I took my kids (DS11 & DD9) on Friday Friday August 17th. They had wanted to see this house for a while so we made a side trip on our way home from grandmas house. We purchased both tours - figured we should since it would probably be our only visit. The house tour was just OK. As others have... more
