This is a very peaceful place. It started to rain the day I was there, but that didn't diminish the wonderful experience of this beautiful and peaceful grotto. This is a great place to spend an hour in prayer and meditation, very refreshing for the mind, heart, and spirit. more

We were traveling from Florida to Gettysburg, PA when we came upon a road sign directing us to the National Shrine Grotto of Lourdes. The National Shrine Grotto in Emmitsburg, MD. was a real delight. It's a serene walk in the woods passed several statues, markers, shrines, etc. There are stations of the cross and many biblical sayings. There are benches where you can stop to pray or meditate.
