The children (2 and 3 year old) were elated going on the choo choo train and were upset at the end of the journey. I took the sky ride up to Kuranda and the train down. The ride over the rainforest was fantastic--something I'll remember forever! The town itself was pleasant, shops and the butterfly sanctuary. The train ride was hot, crowded and being I didn't get a window seat and the two who did stood up the whole trip.....totally a waste of time.... more

My family took this trip in October 07 and I agree totally with the Feb 07 review by Melbournestranger. We took the train up to Kuranda, and the Skyrail back, and the Skyrail was much more more enjoyable and had fantastic views, including the better view of Baron River Falls. We did the skyrail up and the scenic rail back from Kuranda in November 2006. Honestly I wouldn't recommend it. The skyrail going up was good but the railway going down isn't so great. Step into a byegone age on an original train. Enjoy genuine Mahogany panelling in the amazing old carridges. This is a really memorable experience and not a recreated theme park ride! more
