It was fun, it was NOT CROWDED, it was timely and enjoyable. The only reason I would return to Emprire State is to be able to say that I visited a historic building. If it were for the views, and overall experience, Top of the Rock makes the best out of the bucks you invest! Empire State was so crowded... more
If you only have the time and/or money to visit either the Top of the Rock or the Empire State Building, it's a no-brainer. It may not be quite as tall, but the Rock has far better views, including the best views of the Empire State Building itself as well and almost all of Central Park. You get only distant,... more
I have been up to the Top of the Rock twice. The view is just amazing! Both times we really didn't have to wait in line at all. Please keep in mind that the first time I went to the TOTR was in September and then in January so those are not high traffic tourist times. Can't say what it... more
We went to the Top of the Rock in April. The views were amazing. It took less than 10 minutes from the time we bought our tickets to stepping out of the elevator at the top. We went in the late afternoon on a Saturday. The day was very clear and we could see Manhattan in all directions. The view... more
We visited both this and the Empire State. Whist slightly lower it was a afar more enjoyable experience with 3 levels of terrace space to wander around and views across Midtown, Central Park & beyond. Their ticketing & 'airport' style security system worked far better, with really friendly staff. Do not skip the 4 minuite info film before taking the... more
As part of a recent day trip to NYC my girlfriends and I visited Top of the Rock. Part of the architectural team that designed this building also designed the Art Deco Mortensen Hall theater in the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford, CT where I volunteer so I was interesting in comparing the two. We had not... more
I would highly recommend a trip to the Top of the Rock observation deck. Although it was quite busy when we went, the queues were processed efficiently, and we were through to the lifts in less than 10 minutes. (Compared with the round the block queues for the Empire State Building, this was a considerable benefit). The 3 observation decks... more
My wife and I went up about 30 minutes before the scheduled sunset so we could see the sights with sunlight and then at night. Absolutely amazing. The views in all directions are spectacular. We went on a Tuesday night and while there were many people, there are plenty of spots to view the sights. Going Up Getting up to... more
We bought tickets in advance, which honestly - we didn't have to because here it was a Saturday, the POPE was in town and we could have gone right up, plus they have $2.00 coupons that they are handing out at the door! That's ok - it was worth it. We had our two kids (2&4) with us - they... more
