First off, I have to admit there are some world class paintings in this museum. That being said though, I don't think this museum is the same caliber as the Met in NYC or the Art Institute in Chicago (it is often put up there with those as one of the "top three" art museums in the country). I love... more

It would take a couple days to see everything in this museum. We only had a few hours, so we jumped around to the sections we liked and enjoyed our experience immensely. I love the Impressionists and it has a wonderful collection of impressionist artwork. Little boys especially will like the armor exhibit. more

Although it is a pleasant walk up Ben Franklin Parkway to the Museum, we chose to take the Philly Phlash bus since it was very humid that day we went. The bus leaves you at the back entrance where you don't have to climb all those Rocky Steps to get in. For those of you who are AAA members, you... more

I was exhausted by the time I got here from a long day at the Zoo and Mutter Museum, so I have to give it the benefit of the doubt. If you have a lot planned and not a lot of time, the museum is opened until 7:45 on fridays rather than 5:00 like other days. This is when I... more

I think the Philadelphia Museum of Art is a world-class museum. The museum has a great number of collections and usually 1-2 interesting temporary exhibitions. The entrance fee is a little expensive but you could easily spend a whole day visiting all the different collections. When it is busy, start on the second floor in the Asian and Islamic Sections,... more

Now, I must be honest, the collection is interesting. But the treatment of visitors is horrible. Apparently you can not wear a bag on your back, no matter how small it is. My bag is made like a tiny backpack and tends to slip down when worn on one shoulder. But their rule is that you can not wear it... more

I love the art museum, although it is not free. Sundays they take donations, kind of a pay what you want. My young kids liked it too. They expecially liked the Van Gaugs and the armor exhibit. There isn't much to eat around there without walking a bit but they do have a cafe and a snack bar. The gift... more

Just got back from seeing the exhibit last night. As a whole it's very nice. However I went at the 8pm showing and as soon as it began we were told the Museum closed at 10pm. Due to the number of people the Museum let in at one time moving around from piece to piece was slow and painful. The... more

I was just at the Dali exhibit Sunday night around 6 p.m. Tickets are hard to get for this exhibit, unless you order online in advance. Going in the evening was a good choice since the musuem was already closed except for the special exhibit, and two hours was enough time to see the exhibit and the gift shop. I... more

We celebrated my husband's 60th birthday with a trip to Philadelphia to see "Manet & the Sea". We utilized the museum website to secure a hotel (unfortunately disappointing) and a VIP (undated and untimed) pass to the superb exhibit of Impressionist seascapes. After a surprisingly good lunch in the museum cafeteria we were able to take a free tour with... more
