We took some Great advice from a waiter one night and got off of Bourbon Street and went down to "Frenchmans" I think it was called. This is where are the locals go to party and the music was phenominal. I just found that it seemed that every band played all the same songs all night no matter which club... more

This was our second trip to the city, this time after the storm. We were not impressed. Pan handlers & others kinda scary. Just wasn't expecting that. We felt like we needed a shower when we got back to the room. I am sure there are nicer places in the city...maybe we just missed it this time. more

Ok so maybe Bourbon Street isn't for everyone. I for one thought it was a great street if you go down it with an open mind. There were many bars and strip clubs, but coming from those bars was some pretty good live music and as for the strip clubs, when was the last time anyone went to a city... more

Things have changed since Katrina. But before the storm it was a street where freedom reigned, much like Amsterdam. Locals mingled with tourists. All walks of life strolled on that centuries-old street. It was unlike the rest of the city which was essentially segregated. On Bourbon Street Rodney King's dream was realized. Since the storm I have been back several... more

Of course, everyone who visits New Orleans has to see Bourbon Street. I was anticipating a lot of live jazz, interesting shops and great restaurants. What I found was a street filled with strip clubs and porno stores, tacky gift and souvenier stores. The buildings are amazing. However, the "Bourbon Street" I was looking for was found on the edges... more

Bourbon Street is definitely not for everybody, but you need to see it with an open mind to appreciate what it offers. Naturally there are loads of tourist traps but it takes so little to come to love what is there for the taking. The smell of the city, the clomp of donkey hooves taking tourists for tours, the jazz... more

Just returned from a brief trip to New Orleans & visitied Bourbon St. First impressions: a bit grubby & smelly, need to clean up some of the trash left lying around. It's certainly lively but a little on the seedy side as well, never been impressed with the 'F' word emblazoned on lots of merchandise, this seems to be the... more

Visually, Bourbon St. isn't all that impressive. There are parts of the French Quarter that are much more picturesque-----anywhere around Jackson Square, for example. In fact, when seen from the far side of Canal St., which is very wide, Bourbon looks more like an alley than a world famous tourist destination. As I recall (it's been a while since I was... more

Bourbon Street is 30% bars, 30% restaurants, 30% strip joints and 30% shops. And if you think that doesn't add up, well that just about sums up Bourbon Street. If you like to party, like loud music and shopping in tourist tack shops then this is the place. Even if you don't it's still worth stopping by. However if you... more
