the old market is an unknown district of downtown Omaha where one can find many quaint little shops and eateries with great atmosphere. i say hidden because not many outsiders have heard of the old market, which is a shame. if better known, perhaps the omaha area could actually attract some tourism. however, it could do with a little more... more

On a roadtrip along I-80, we made a point of stopping in Omaha. I was a little disappointed with the city itself, it seems old & tired. But the Old Market area is a great oasis from the rest of downtown. We parked a couple blocks away at meters and walked along through a park to the restaurants and shops.... more

We stayed at the Plaza Hotel and found it very nice. Good specials on the weekend. Went to the Famers Market in the Old Market and then on to the Children's Museum. All were beyond our expectations. I love the ambiance of this little eclectic place in the Heartland. The Old Market has excellent restaurants and shops that give Omaha an ecclectic...almost New Orleans or Savannah tourist-y yet comfortable feel. The shops had all kinds of items unique to Omaha and the setting was just lovely. If you're in Omaha, check it out. more

i had a great time at the old market...we didn't go down there until about 11:00 i'm assuming thats when its the funnest because every is having so much fun....even w/o beer more
