The LIncoln Home is an old home, rooms then were small, hallways narrow. The building is climate controlled but you must look really hard to see the vents. The park service has managed to preserve the Lincoln home as well as a four block area around the home so that you can experience it as the Lincoln's would have. The Lincoln house sits in the middle of a restored neighborhood preserved and maintained by the National Park Service. The Lincoln Home is lovingly restored and is wonderful to visit. I was there today. It was simply amazing. I had a very personable and knowlegeable tour guide. It seems crowded because the house is small. No big deal. They are doing a good job with restoring that part of Springfield. It was a nice day. more

I've been to Lincoln's home many times. This was the most disappointing. It used to be that there was a smaller, more managable amount of people on the tours, the tour guides were knowledgeable and gave an interesting running commentary.
