This historic park features four blocks (linerar) of 1860 Springfield. The Park Service has taken out everything not from this period as is working to restore the area completely to when Lincoln was elected President. The house tour is interesting but brief. The color scheme of the day was jarring and is perhaps the most interesting feature of the house.... more

The LIncoln Home is an old home, rooms then were small, hallways narrow. The building is climate controlled but you must look really hard to see the vents. We live about 50 miles away and have taken many of our friends to the Lincoln sites. Before the fabulious Lincoln museum was opened, his home was always the number one site... more

The park service has managed to preserve the Lincoln home as well as a four block area around the home so that you can experience it as the Lincoln's would have. The streets are shut down to all traffic but pedestrians so you can wander around from one home to another. The Arnold and Dean homes are just across the... more

After paying $2.00 to park and watching the video at the visitor's center, we headed over to the "gray house with the red fire hydrant", which was the meeting spot for all tours. We waited 10 minutes or so and then our tour guide lead us into the house. We saw all the rooms, took pictures and basically squeezed into... more

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Lincoln home. It was conducted by a very knowledgeable tour guide, and the group was a manageable size. We were disappointed to find after leaving Springfield, however, that we received a $25 parking ticket for parking on the street next to the Lincoln Home headquarters on South 7th Street. Although we parked in... more

The Lincoln house sits in the middle of a restored neighborhood preserved and maintained by the National Park Service. The Lincoln Home is lovingly restored and is wonderful to visit. We picked-up our free tickets at the Visitor's Center and began our tour 10 minutes later. After, take time to walk around to see the other re historical homes on... more

I was there today. It was simply amazing. I had a very personable and knowlegeable tour guide. It seems crowded because the house is small. No big deal. They are doing a good job with restoring that part of Springfield. It was a nice day. more

I've been to Lincoln's home many times. This was the most disappointing. It used to be that there was a smaller, more managable amount of people on the tours, the tour guides were knowledgeable and gave an interesting running commentary. Now, they have WAY too many people going on each tour. We were jammed in there shuffling along among lots... more
