Beef Island airport is a long way from most Tortola destinations. Try to arrange for transfers to where you're staying. We were at Sebastian's On The Beach in the West End and it was an hour ride. But we really got to see the island!
Ave price: $112
Our room in the palm shaded court was comfortable and secluded. Beach front rooms are also available. Dinner at their seaside restaurant that night featured shrimp which went well with conch salad. Take a walk by the beach before going to bed.
After breakfast overlooking the waves takea cab (arrange it the night before) to Soper's Hole to embark on a day sail. Several are available - we took Aristocat for a day of sailing, snorkeling and unlimited food and drink - especially tasty deviled eggs!
You're back from your sail and it's time to party! Bomba's is the place -a ramshackle patchwork shack on the beach, (in?)famous for its Full Moon Party, live music Sun & Wed - the definition of a beach bar!
Ave price: $112
Breakfast by the beach again - late and leisurely. You've had a late night so just kick back and watch the surfers this morning. Enjoy some pancakes, omelettes or rum French toast under the palms and remember why you came here.
6. Dolphin Discovery
Arrange a cab to take you into Roadtown, because this afternoon you're going to swim with dolphins. More than that you going to kiss them, dance with and ride on them. They'll take you on a ride through the water like none you've ever experienced!
Ave price: $284
Tonight you're going to do some elegant dining (though there's no need to get dressed up.) Sugar Mill is exotic, accomodating and the food is delicious. Grouper and roast pork were our choices.
Sailing again! This time it's on an 80 ft. schooner- rigged wooden boat. (They will arrange to have you picked up - make arrangements ahead of time and grab some snacks and juice - you won't have time for breakfast.) You'll once again enjoy a bountiful array of beverages, an excellent lunch and a shore excursion in the dinghy to the Pirate's Bar on Norman (the original Treasure) Island. Snorkeling and swimming and lying on the deck under sail.... not a bad way to spend your last day.
9. Seaside Grille
Last night in the islands. Go back to the Seaside Grille for a great dinner of swordfish - we did and ran into friends we'd made over the past few days and other congenial people. We talked, compared stories and the waves rolled in behind us.
You know you're not going to spend your last night on the island without paying a final visit to Bomba's. Probably, like us, you'll meet people, start buying rounds, but sooner than you want to, you'll head back to your room because you have a plane to catch.
Well, you can't go back if you don't go away.
