| At my visit to Nara in 1996 I was surrounded by the tame deer called "shika" which were looking for the "senbei" (cookies) we had bought for them. It was hilarious! |

7. Himeji Castle (Himeji-jo)

| been there in 1996 and 1999. It is really impressive. At my second visit, my mother and me were surrounded by Japanese school children, who all wanted to have their photo taken with us. |

8. Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum

|
| visited Hiroshima in 1996. The museum is really impressive and made me really sad. But it is a real spiritual place. |

9. Itsukushima Shinto Shrine
|
|
| Itsukushima - small island with the famous red "torii". It was high tide, so we couldn't walk up to it, but I took some great photos during sunset. |

13. Citadel of Sigiriya - Lion Rock
|

| Sigiriya Rock - after you've climbed to the top, you have a breathtaking view over the green of Sri Lanka. |

| Galle Fort was first built by the Portuguese, then the Dutch built the present fort in 1663. They it has been used by the British. |

| Kandy is home to the famous "Temple of the Tooth" - a Buddhist temple said to house one of Lord Buddha's teeth. The relic is secured and can't be seen, but the temple is very interesting |

18. Sinharaja Forest Reserve

| Sinharaja is a World Biosphere Reserve and is only 21km from east to west, but it houses many endemic species (butterflies, birds, trees....). It is really worth a visit. |

30. Schonbrunn Palace (Schloss Schonbrunn)

| As Schonbrunn Palace is located in Vienna, I've been there many times. The park area is great for taking a long walk and in summer we practice Taiji there. |

| I've been there with my school class to visit the salt mines. I remember that the weather was not too good, but we went on a boat ride on Lake Hallstatt. |

| I've never used the Semmering railway, but I've been at the Semmering many times. |

| Close to Vienna - I should go there more often. It's a great area for cycling, as it is flat and you can ride around the lake (remember to bring your passport, because you will enter Hungarian territory!) |
