Charming, medieval castle type facility, with independent cabins. They have a magnificent location and tremendous potential - that is not being capitalized on. The hostess (Maria) was cordial, but not gracious, treating us as obvious, less-than-welcome outsiders rather than as guests. The place was not clean. There are a variety of cabins, and while there were very few guests (there... more

We stayed a week at the Hotel Mansion Tarahumara "El Castillo" on the edge of the Copper Canyon in the . This hotel located in the forests of the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains, has stone pathways and log cabin interiors that give a natural rustic feeling to the hotel and matches the lovely setting on the edge of the canyon.... more

Spent a week here, and enjoyed every minute. Hotel management is efficient, polite and reliable. Hotel has its own character and charm. Rooms (cottages) are well built and equipped. Maid service was impeccable. Dining room is like those turn-of-the-century lodges in the US - great ambience and atmosphere. Works well for guests, both on package tours and individual travellers. Food... more

We came with Trafalgar Tours. We boarded the train at El Fuerte very early in the morning. Train was lovely, two-abreast, wide picture windows, dining car, very comfortable. Took about 6 hours or so. Great views. Upon arrival, the staff turned up to meet us in 2 or 3 minivans and took us for the 10 min ride to Mansion... more

We stayed for two nights in January 2006. The hotel is very close to the canyon, although none of the cabins directly overlook the canyon. There is easy access to the canyon on foot from the hotel and the hotel will organise tours if you wish. The hotel has large, comfortable rustic cabins. The price includes all meals, which were... more

Great location, great food, friendly staff--and while unique, not ugly like the Posada Mirador monstrosity not far away. This is the place to be, unless you want to be overcharged to be right on the rim. The Mansion is an 8 minute walk to the rim, and that makes it all the more special, since it is not destroying the... more

Okay, so the last time I was at "Disneyland" (as we called it) was 13 years ago while on a trip with Denver East High School - but my memories of this hotel are treasured. The proprietor (his name escapes me now) and the town of Divisadero were so kind and welcoming. I highly recommend this as a comfortable means... more

The Mansion (also called 'El Castillo') is located about 1/2 mi from the Posadas Barrancas train station at Copper Canyon. The hotel package includes three meals daily, and the meals are provided somewhat family style in a large and well decorated dining room. Some meals are very good, some just OK, and all are somewhat small but healthful and definitely... more
