no visible staff, the bar man greeted us in a food stained t shirt, as they had stopped serving food at 2 and this was 6, there were still dirty plates on tables and the bar. we were in a party of 8 and waited around 20 mins for bar service, the bar stools are dirty, the carpets are threadbare,... more

We have just returned home from a very relaxing break. Don't expect this hotel to be a Travelodge or the Hilton, It isn't . Part of it was built before America was discovered. What it offers is something which a lot of the reviews have missed. This hotel is seeped in history. Thats what makes it so amazing. The staff... more

On our recent trip to Scotland, my husband and I spent a wonderful night at the Lord Crewe Arms. The hotel staff was friendly, the room was lovely, friendly locals in the bar, and the food delicious. We stayed in the “haunted room” which was richly decorated, and very clean and comfortable (though we must admit we didn’t meet the... more

We stayed for two nights at the Lord Crewe Arms in Blanchland, Northumberland at the end of June 2008. We booked it because we had stayed there in March 2001 and found it a lovely place to stay. I was also brought up in the area and still have family living locally. I have therefore visited the Lord Crewe many... more

I read the reviews of the Lord Crewe with some interest. We've never stayed there, but we've visited on a number of occasions over recent years (my wife has relatives nearby). I have to say that our experiences, over quite a considerable period, align with the less-favourable reviews here. The place seems COLD - both physically, in the winter, and... more

Take a step back into the past as you book into the Lord Crewe Arms Hotel near Hexham in North England. It is as if you were in another time zone. Situated in a rolling valley the hotel offers great accommodation, fine dining and friendly service. The pub is the place to be in the early evening where you can... more

This is a rambling 17th century building with the potential to appeal to travellers in the Durham.Northumberland area as it sits on the border of both counties. It is isolated, being at least 10 miles from Hexham, but the village of Blanchland offers great photographic opportunities. However, the hotel disappoints greatly. The owner met us dressed in a holey jumper... more

I recently was recommended a hotel in the Northumberland Countryside called 'The Lord Crewe Arms'. Me and my husband stayed here for two nights. The food and service was exellent and the surrounding area was breathtaking. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a peaceful getaway!! I have already booked for two nights in August and can't wait... more

My husband and I were looking for somewhere to go that would be relaxing, quiet and scenic, but also with enough for my 11 year old son to do. We also had to find a place that was willing to let us bring our dog!!!!!! I stumbled upon Blanchland and The Lord Crewe Arms quite by accident, but was oh... more
