We knew to expect a basic hotel - so there were no nasty surprises when we arrived at the Hotel Deauville, on day one of our 2wk tour of Cuba. In fact, we had a sea view and a powerful-ish shower... good start! The breakfast was fine, good selection and later found it was actually one of the better ones... more

We came here only for the location, Malecon and Old Havana, which is really nice. The hotel, though, was quite disappointing and the worst experience during our 8 day's tour around Cuba. When we opened the door to the room, it had a horrible smell. We had the suspicion it was riddled with mould, and after an hour's nap, we... more

After a while in Cuba, one is very happy to have a clean bed, hot(ish) water, and not too much noise. This you get at the Deauville + excellent views, a swimming pool and a good location in walking distance of Havana Vieja. Staff are helpful enough. Breakfast just about edible. For the money (60 CUC for a double), and... more

This hotel is not that good but it isn't that bad either. Location in on the Malecon, which is good, on walking distance from the old centre. Beds have very little support. Shower is not hot and didn't have a support to keep it up. Rooms and towels are clean. Staff was nice and supportive. Pool on the 7th floor... more

My girlfriend and I spent three nights at this hotel. It is basically a two stars hotel for the European standards. We were given a medium size basic room with a city view. There is one air conditioner in the wall, but it's very noisy, you don't want to make it work all nite long. The bathroom was small but... more

We arrived at Deauville for the first night of our tour around Cuba. Initially a bit daunted about the idea of a casa particular we thought that this looked like a good option. In part it was. It is well located on the malecon which is amazing and some rooms, ie ours, have great views. There is a 24hr reception... more

Stayed here for one night each at the start and end of our Cuba trip, initially for price. It is the cheapest hotel you'll find on the internet. On the first stay, the hotel deserved two or three stars. Large rooms, very basic. Shower nozzle which doesn't stay on the wall so you have to hold it the whole time.... more

Well having read a lot of the reviews on here I thought I would write of my experience with this Hotel. I think a lot of the criticism is unfair. I stayed for a few days in late December 2006 before travelling on to Santa Clara. I had stayed here previously in the summer of 2006. I think you have... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Deauville in Sep 2006. We were there for 3 nights, and then went to Varadaro for 10 nights with Airtours. Although we quite liked the hotel, 3 nights was enough really. There was some people staying for 2 weeks, and when we saw them at the airport on the way home, they said... more

Deauville is a rather boring hotel, with typical cuban service (ie. none except when the doorman tries to sell you girls, cigars or rum). Our room was on the 4th floor and elevators worked sporadically. Breakfast was alright, bar was boring and the Malecon outside of the hotel is crawling with hustlers at night. Only stayed at a hotel since... more
